Ann Dierickx
Ann Dierickx studied law at the KU Leuven (cum laude) and at the University of Rennes I. In 1999 she received her LL.M degree (master after master) at the KU Leuven (magna cum laude). She was called to the Brussels Bar and for her internship she worked at law firms Stibbe and Eubelius. In 2005 she defended her doctoral thesis (PhD) on "Toestemming en strafrecht. Een strafrechtsdogmatische analyse van de toestemming en de strafrechtelijke bescherming van lijf en leven". Between 2006 and 2008 Ann lectured as a substitute university professor on criminal law and law of criminal procedure at the KU Leuven. In 2008 she joined the firm as counsel and in 2013 she became a full partner.
Ann has a special focus on the status of healthcare providers and their mutual conflicts of competence. The regulation concerning access and establishment, also for pharmacies, belongs to her distinct field of expertise. She has gained considerable experience with public proceedings before the Council of State and the Constitutional Court.
Ann is a visiting professor at Ahlec, the Antwerp Health Law and Ethics Chair at the University of Antwerp. She is also a member of the editorial board of the 'Tijdschrift voor Gezondheidsrecht/Revue de Droit de la Santé' (Journal for Health Law), of Nullum Crimen and of the code 'Wetboek Strafrecht Geannoteerd'.
